To provide a great experience for its participants and the community, a half marathon requires much organization and many, many people. So much goes on behind-the-scenes. So much is required to promote and conduct a great expo and to ensure that the experience is equally great before during and after the race itself.
This race has been fortunate to have such great volunteers. All people that compete in the race get a taste of the best of the people from our community. It is wonderful to be around such positivity and work toward a common goal together. Because of these volunteers Lawrence County has an event that promotes health, fitness, competitiveness and overall wellness. It has an event that brings people from outside of the community to inside the community for excitement and for economic stimulation. Through this event we see the great people Lawrence County United.
Close to 150 volunteers are required to put on the limestone capital half marathon. Volunteer positions include expo help, start and finish line construction, Finishline food and medal administration, course marshals, course bike escorts, and water stop assistance.
